Pierre Henry in an igloo

Caption: The French missionary Pierre Henry (OMI) in a igloo during his journey to the Boothia Peninsula in the Canadian Arctic. Henry was based in the isolated station of Pelly Bay (now Iguruk – land of the great whales), inaccessible to boats even during the summer. The Inuits gave him the name of Ataata Kajualuk, the Father with the red beard. His life inspired Fr Guy Mary-Rousselière for his 1960 film, "Lux in Tenebris".
